The best time to crochet a sweater is all the time

Over this crazy quarantine summer, I decided to put my crochet skills to the test. I had wanted to make a sweater for the longest time, and I finally decided that it was time to do it! I didn't want to do it half way, so I designed the pattern myself. I took measurements off of another sweater I owned and came up wit the appropriate amount of stiches I would have to make each crochet square. I then started to design the patterns on each square and what order I wanted them to be crocheted together. Once this was done, I spent many many many (many many many) hours crocheting granny squares with those patterns and crocheting all of the pieces together. After that, I crocheted hems for the sleeves, collar, and bottom of the sweater.

What I learned

I learned many things through this process, and I will try my best to list them below:

1. Crocheting a sweater takes A TON of yarn (seriously, maybe even more than a blanket, who knows)

2. Making granny squares will slowly drive you insane (it is going to take me years before I try my hand at granny squares again)

3. Making a sweater is not for the feint of heart (I would start off with something slow, like a hat or amigurumi, and work your way up)

4. My Apple watch counts crochet as steps...I have "walked" many miles crocheting that sweater

5. I can do LITERALLY anything after finishing this sweater (not really, but I'm excited for my next challenge!)
