How do you go about bringing awareness to something as simple as a card game in a meaningful way?

Role

Background

I did everything from hold meetings and pitch ideas to the client, to holding camera lenses and making set pieces out of cardboard and paper. Like always, I took notes during every meeting and then organized them in a logical way to send out to my team. I made sure I was always aware of different deadlines and I made multiple schedules that accounted for everything the client needed. I communicated with not only my team, but my supervisors, to make sure that everything my team was doing was in-line with what the client wanted. No job is excluded from account managing, so when the time came for producing our commercial, I was there for the making of the set where I helped build set pieces out of cardboard, paper, and felt. I also stayed for the filming of the commercial and helped with the lighting and camera lenses for the DP.

Grandpa Beck’s Games is a game company that focuses on providing families with quality games. Their most famous game is Cover Your Assets, which is rated 5 stars on Amazon. While most people know about Cover Your Assets, many people are not aware of the other games in their line. This lack of awareness is a problem, especially during the holiday season, when most people think about gifting games to friends and family.

The ask

strategy

Grandpa Beck’s Games wanted a holiday centered campaign that showcased not only Cover Your Assets, but their other games in the line, like Bears and the Bees and Skull King.

We decided to focus on the Christmas spirit that Grandpa Beck’s Games naturally provides. Games are a great way to bring people together and spend time with family, so we wanted to show that Grandpa Beck’s Games are the best way to do that. We focused on showing how the other games in the line can connect to each family member and how each one can make a thoughtful gift for the people in your life.

deliverables

We created ad mockups for the client presentations, and we created a commercial that can be viewed down below.

What I learned

1. I learned that open communication between the client, account supervisors, and creative team is really important. If there isn't communication between these groups, then everything becomes more difficult.

2. I also learned that acting confident in my account manager abilities helps the team more than indecision and self-doubt. If I doubt myself, then the creative team I am over won't feel confident in the work they produce.
